A 48-year-old woman died after being allegedly hit by a BMW in the Delhi Cantonment area on Tuesday, August 11. The incident took place near Mehram Nagar, in the vicinity of the road leading towards Indira Gandhi International Airport.
According to reports, the woman was crossing the road when the BMW allegedly struck her. Police subsequently apprehended the driver in connection with the incident.
Woman Dies After Collision
The deceased woman has been identified as 48-year-old Jaiwanti. The collision reportedly occurred during the afternoon in the Delhi Cantonment area.
The impact left the woman critically injured. She was taken for medical treatment, but she succumbed to her injuries.
Police have taken the BMW and other relevant evidence into custody as part of the investigation. The circumstances surrounding the collision, including the speed and manner in which the vehicle was being driven, are being examined.
Residents Protest After Accident
Following the incident, local residents reportedly gathered at the spot and staged a protest.
The protest also affected traffic movement on the route towards Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport, with traffic reportedly disrupted for several hours.
The incident has once again raised concerns over pedestrian safety on roads with heavy and fast-moving traffic.
Driver Apprehended
